Following a successful inaugural run last year the AARRDS opens up to more upcoming designers in the region. If you missed it, here’s a recap of last year’s search and this year’s AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search launch event.
The designer search is open to students and alumni of the fashion design schools in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, aged 28 and under. Each designer must present three women’s wear sketches inspired by Southeast Asia at the audition.
The top three finalists from each country will have their collections featured at KL Fashion Week RTW in August and compete for the title of AirAsia’s Most Promising Designer 2016. The winner will receive exciting prizes totalling over RM350,000, including having his or her full collection featured at KL Fashion Week RTW 2017; mentorship from the KLFW RTW team; RM25,000 towards a FashionValet capsule collection; and 150,000 AirAsia BIG Points, among other prizes.
Submissions are closed for Indonesia and the Philippines. Take a look at the highlights of the Indonesia leg here.
Upcoming audition dates are 30 April 2016 for Malaysia, 7 May 2016 for Singapore and 14 May 2016 for Thailand. For more details and the registration forms for the AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search 2016, visit klfashionweek.com.
